About WTAgent

WTAgent is a free, open-source (MIT) command-line coding agent. It drives a dedicated browser profile where you sign in to the AI chat website you already use - ChatGPT Web (including Pro), Claude Web, DeepSeek, Gemini, Grok, Kimi or Zhipu GLM - and turns it into a terminal coding assistant. In agentic loops it reads your local project, edits files, runs shell commands and tests, and verifies the results itself. No model API key, MCP server, tunnel or browser plugin is required; your existing web subscription does the work and normal provider terms and account limits apply. Install globally with npm i -g wtagent on macOS, Linux or Windows (WSL2). WTAgent is an independent CLI and is not the official OpenAI Codex or Anthropic Claude Code client.

Features

  • Uses your existing ChatGPT/Claude/DeepSeek/Gemini/Grok/Kimi/GLM web account - no model API key needed
  • Reads local files, edits code, runs commands and tests, and self-verifies in agentic loops
  • Open source MIT, cross-platform (macOS/Linux/WSL2), one-line npm install

Pros

👍 Free and open source (MIT); no extra API spend

Cons

👎 Requires an existing web AI subscription; provider account limits still apply
